How to Use this Visual Thinking Template
Below you will find a set of instructions on how to work through this Visual Thinking template. For maximum impact, please use the accompanying IQ Doodle about Overcoming Procrastination as a reference guide to help you work through each section of this template in optimal ways.
This Visual Thinking template is divided into two distinct zones. The main section on the left is called the Brainstorming Zone, while the sidebar on the right is known as the Implementation Zone.
The Brainstorming Zone
Within the Brainstorming Zone you will see six containers that represent the six steps or ideas outlined within the accompanying IQ Doodle. For each of these containers your objective is doodle and/or write your responses to the question listed below each container. These questions have been designed to help you work through each step of the process in an optimal way.
Implementation Zone
Once you work through the Brainstorming Zone, your next objective is to complete the five sections of the Implementation Zone. Completing these five sections will help you put your thoughts and ideas into practical action. The sections include:
- Today’s Date
- 3 Important Reminders
- My Commitment
- My Habits
- My Beliefs
Begin by writing today’s date. This is important as it gives you a point of reference of when you started this journey of change and transformation.
3 Important Reminders
Next, write down the three most important reminders or takeaways you got from working through the Brainstorming Zone. These are three things that you must keep in mind to help you make positive changes to your life and circumstances.
My Commitment Container
Within the My Commitment container, this is where you must write down what you commit to doing over the next 30 days that will help you to make positive changes to your life. This is essentially a commitment you make to yourself about what you’re willing to do and the potential sacrifices you are going to have to make in order to make these desired changes.
My Habits Container
Within the My Habits container, write down what useful habits would be worth developing in order to make your desired changes a reality. Every change we make in life is built upon a set of habits. To make change stick you will need to develop a set of habits that support that desired change. Without those habits in place, long-term change will be impossible to make.
My Beliefs Container
Within the My Beliefs container, write down what beliefs it might be helpful to cultivate that will allow you to make the desired changes to your life and circumstances. These beliefs must of course be aligned with the habits you listed above. And those habits must likewise be aligned with the commitment you made earlier. In other words, all three containers must be aligned in order to make your desired changes stick long-term.
Final Thoughts
Working through this Visual Thinking template in this way will help you to develop an effective implementation plan for making desired and positive changes to your life and circumstances. The fact that you will be working through this template in a visual way using doodles just makes this process a lot more engaging and powerful.
Change isn’t easy to make, but it doesn’t necessarily need to feel like a chore. Using this Visual Thinking template and accompanying IQ Doodle will help make change a lot more fun, easy, insightful and engaging.
